Lobsters VS. Crawfishs

Lobster and Crawfish boiled and smothered in butter.Sounds good right? They both taste good this way while one is considered a delicacy and the other with home style cooking. There is more to Lobster and Crawfish than cooking methods and regional availabilities. They are two different animals that differ in their sizes, habitats, and semantics.

Although Crawfish and Lobsters differ in appearance they do share similarities in appearance. Crawfish and Lobsters have a very similar appearance because they have two large front claws along with 8 legs and have tough exoskeletons.Even tough they share these similarities, Crawfish are actually much smaller in size ranging from two to six inches. Lobsters ,on the other hand, reaches about eight inches, but can reach about 20 inches in length.

Crawfish and Lobsters share similar habitats which are primarily on the ocean floor and hiding under the rocks and in crevices.However, Crawfish mainly stay in freshwater feeding on plants, insects, and worms along with anything else they find along the ocean floor. While Lobsters stay in salt water feeding mainly on small fish, prawns,  clams, snails, and other small ocean animals.

Lobsters that do not have claws like the Spiny and Rock Lobster are sometimes called Crawfish, but the term is incorrect. Lobsters might have many names depending on the region it is in, but they primarily are called lobsters. Crawfish on the other hand have many names that they are called such as crayfish, crawdad, crays and sometimes mud bugs or puppies.

Lobster and Crawfish both have similarities as well as differences between them. Lobsters are significantly bigger in size than Crawfish. They share similar habitats but differ in their diet plans. They have very different semantics, Crawfish have way more names than Lobsters do even when regions differ. Now that you know more about these animals, take a lobster and Crawfish, boil and smother it in butter and send your taste buds on a journey.
